As landlords, we have always made efforts to ensure that the neighbours of our properties are happy, as we have had family members suffer from of the effects of poor landlords/agents ignoring badly behaving tenants next door. The neighbours know us well, and have our contact details in case of any issues. This doesn’t seem to be something covered in the Charters, but is important to us. Somewhere in your pages we read about making regular friendly contact with the tenant, which seems wise, but we would suggest that a similar relationship with the neighbours would also be good practice?

I agree, as an agent the last thing we want is to have our boards up outside a property in which the tenant is behaving badly – we make every effort to keep neighbours happy and I think it should be standard to do so.
